Professor Poppe has started his financial carreer in an American oil company called Gulf Oil Corporation. The Professor was responsable for the budgets : create the budget, present the budget to the board of directors , and of course control the budget afterwards. He stayed in this enterprise for 5 years.
After Gulf Oil, the Professor worked 13 years in another American enterprise this time in the telephone business. Ronald Poppe was responsable for the business plans : create them , have them signed by the directors and then execute them. By doing so, as ITT was building factories all over the world, he was sent to South Corea, China, India, Indonesia, and other beautiful countries in the Far East, in order to create a local unit for ITT.
Alcatel was a French company in the telephone business as well, and in this enterprise Professor Poppe had the department financial engineering under his control during 7 years. What does the word financial engineering really mean ? It is a department that buys and sell companies, that will go and look for structured financing architectures in order to bring the interest rate down drastically, or even negatif. In that respect Ronald purchased ACEC, a large company of industrial electrical machinery, he created Mietec, a semi-conductors company, and was involved in many other large projects which all had one aim : bring the shares of Alcatel up in the Stock Exchange.
All the projects on which the Professor has participated have been projects who supply work to the local population. It is for this reason that he can say tha t he has done something very tangible against the poverty on our planet. Speaking about typography, please be aware that the Professor is one of the seldom persons on our planet who can still write old Gothic by hand. Actually it is one of his favorite hobbys. The Professor has served his military duty in the marine infantery, where he was particularly trained for interventions in RDC.
In the time that the Professor was constructing factories or buying enterprises, green energy did not exist, but at ITT or Alcatel the factories that were used did not create much pollution because for the major part the production was done with some light power engines that worked on electricty and not on fuel or CO2 producing energy. At Gulf Oil the pollution was not always avoided, especially not in the exploration area.
Professor Poppe left Alcatel to become the CEO of the Gelana Finance Group . This enterprise had all the financial services available for everyone : two accounting offices, a company to collect receivables, another one to rent cars, one for the purchase and rental of buildings, one for IT services, and several enterprises to give or to organise financial seminars. Today Ronald Poppe works for two high level universities : Erasmus at Rotterdam Holland, and ESSEC in Paris France. He gives a lot of financial seminars in large multinational enterprises such as Engie, Suez, Siemens, Picanol, Ajinomoto, etc…, where he can transfer his financial know how to the next generation.
